The Carl Bokenfohr Fieldhouse

The Carl Bokenfohr Fieldhouse

The Carl Bokenfohr Fieldhouse in St. Albert Sports City will be Canada's largest indoor fieldhouse, large enough to accomodate a regulation-size CFL football field.  It will be used during all seasons for football, soccer, rugby, baseball, softball, track and field, and other related sports that will benefit from its athlete-friendly FieldTurf surface.

Designed to accomodate full size 8v8 or 11v11 soccer, indoor baseball and softball leagues, and large enough to play a regulation football or rugby game, the Carl Bokenfohr Fieldhouse will become a key contributor to the further development of Alberta's sports and recreation programs for all levels of athletes, youth, adults and seniors, including elite-level sport development.

It will serve to host numerous local and regional sports events, and national and international events that have not occurred in Alberta due to the lack of adequate indoor facilities.

The facility is named after Carl Bokenfohr, the farmer and landowner, who along with his wife Mary raised five sports-minded children. Dean Bokenfohr, Carls oldest son had this to say about the facility, "If my Dad were still alive today he would probably say, If the land can not be farmed then the second choice would be someting that would provide an opportunity to have the land enjoyed by all."
